About the events calendar

How it works

The calendar is assembled twice a day, at about 8am and 8pm Buffalo time, from 27 sources: venue calendars, library systems, ticketing feeds, tourism listings and municipal pages. Duplicates of the same event from different sources are merged into one listing.

Local organizers can also submit an event free. Submissions are read by a person before they appear. There is no charge and no account to create.

An event stays listed until it has finished. The furthest-ahead event currently listed is August 18, 2028.

Listings are free. Advertising on the printed postcard is a separate paid product and does not affect what appears in the calendar or in what order.

Where the events are

31 towns and cities have at least one upcoming event listed. Counts change with every refresh.

Towns with enough events to justify their own page have one, for example /east-aurora/ and /grand-island/.

Categories

Every event is filed under exactly one of these 10 categories. Source feeds use hundreds of different labels; those are mapped down to this list so that filtering works across all sources.

Corrections

If a listing is wrong, out of date, or should not be here, email [email protected] or call 716-771-2273 with the event name and date. Corrections are made by hand.
